Thousands of handcart operators move goods through markets, estates and trading centres every day, yet the people behind this essential informal logistics network are rarely celebrated.
The Derby turns that everyday work into sport, competition and recognition. It is being developed as a league and event platform combining racing, entertainment, community and recognition for the people who keep local commerce moving.
The 2025 Mkokoteni Derby event, powered by Airpocket, showed the concept in action. The wider national league remains in development.
The idea is simple: take something ordinary, recognise the people behind it, and turn it into something the whole country can celebrate.
